A native of Western Pennsylvania, Dr. Richard T. Vagley graduated from Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College) through an accelerated Penn State–Jefferson program, earning his medical degree at the age of 22. After serving as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps, he completed general surgery training at Georgetown University and plastic surgery training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1977 and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1980, Dr. Vagley has more than four decades of experience and focuses on aesthetic surgery of the face, breasts, and body. He is a longtime member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).
Beyond his clinical career, Dr. Vagley founded PIPSqueaks, a nonprofit providing free plastic surgical care to children in need, and was honored with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Community Champions Award. He also holds a U.S. patent for a surgical instrument support tray.
